A DRUG can be defined as any substance taken to modify, change, or heal something within the body. It has also been defined as a chemical compound that is used to help in the diagnosis, treatment, cure, or prevention of a human condition. Drugs are used to prevent illness, aid in the recovery of a cold, infection, or correcting an imbalance within a human or animal.
The word Drug comes from a Dutch/Low German word "droog" which translates to "dry". Originally most drugs were derived from the parts of plants that were dried.
Drugs provide a very useful service if used as intended. They can help us conquer the common cold, overcome sleeplessness, and even enable us to prolong our lives and overcome cancer, heart, blood, thyroid, and mental issues / problems. Their uses are limitless and they provide an invaluable service to many people. However when taken inappropriately, misused, abused, and as other than intended they can become harmful and destructive. Drugs can be very helpful in treating and healing. Drugs can also be abused and misused, many types of drugs are very addictive.
